Parenting can be hard. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Parenting support for real life

Sometimes you don’t need a parenting course. You just need a safe space to talk through what’s happening, understand what might be behind it, and find a way forward that works for your family.

Everyday parenting

Support with the everyday moments that can leave you wondering, “Am I doing this right?”

Big feelings & behaviour

Help understanding what may be behind difficult moments, and finding calmer ways to respond.

Connection & boundaries

Build a stronger connection with your child while setting clear, respectful boundaries.

Hi, I’m Kiren Kaur-Nienhuis

I’m a psychologist, pedagogue-in-training, and parent. I’ve spent much of my professional life working with people, families, and organisations, and I’ve always been interested in what helps people feel understood, supported, and able to move forward.

Parenting is one of those areas where knowing what to do and actually doing it can be two very different things. There are the everyday questions, the challenging behaviour, the big emotions, the boundaries, the guilt — and sometimes simply the feeling that you’re not sure what to try next.

My approach is practical, thoughtful, and non-judgmental. I draw on psychological knowledge, my training in pedagogy, and my own experience as a parent to help you understand what is happening and explore approaches that fit your child, your family, and your everyday life.

I’m part of a multicultural Dutch-Malaysian-Indian family, and I speak English, Dutch, Malay, Tamil and some Hindi. I know from personal experience that culture, language, family expectations and different ways of seeing the world can all shape how we approach parenting. I want MindfulParents to feel like a welcoming space for families from different backgrounds.

You don’t have to be struggling with something “serious” to ask for support. Sometimes having a space to talk things through can be enough to see things differently and find your next step.

How it works

Parenting support doesn’t have to be complicated. We start with where you are, work out what would be most helpful, and take it from there.

A free introduction

We spend 30 minutes talking about what’s happening and what you’d like support with.

We make sense of it

Together, we look at what’s going on and explore what might help — without judgement or a one-size-fits-all approach.

Find your next step

You’ll leave with some practical ideas to try, and we can decide whether further support would be useful.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Sometimes talking things through is the first step towards making things feel a little easier.
